Marianne Vella
Marianne Vella is an emerging Canadian visual artist engaged in drawing and oil painting, with a focus on narrative realism. Her creative practice has matured through a rigorous synthesis of independent learning, formal study, and participation in community-based arts initiatives.
Marianne's background includes academic study in psychoanalysis, literature, religion, and the visual arts. This interdisciplinary foundation profoundly informs her interest in how visual expression functions as an instrument for reflection, emotional understanding, and quiet transformation.
"I am in love with Old World aesthetics, as well as craft, and other testaments of human ingenuity and survival through the creative spirit. Motifs such as knitting, clay, tiles, and woodwork, and natural ingredients such as herbs, hold powerful significance to life as we know it and reliably find their way into my imagery."
Currently based in New Brunswick, Canada, Marianne is dedicated to deepening her studio practice and exploring the quiet, dignified poetry of the natural world.
